Well, kiddies, it's finally looking like spring in Idaho.
Spring in the northwest is a beautiful thing. I take the kids to school every day at 7:45 and it amazes me to see people scraping ice off the windows while wearing shorts. The range of temperatures in Idaho can vary anywhere between 25-70 on any given day, and it’s a true testament to the fact that winter holds onto it’s clutches for as long as possible, while spring digs and claws its way into existence.
I’ve got a not so secret desire to visit the Bahamas (hell, even live there) and so I’ve got a little weather program that gives me daily temperatures. It’s quite a difference between here and there. Before you go all “geography teacher” on me, I understand why it’s different. I’m not completely naïve to the concept that closer to the equator you get, the warmer it is. Trust me, I “get it”.
I look at the Saint Johns, Antigua and Barbuda temp and it’s got a variance of literally about 5 degrees all year long. Today for example that majestic, beautiful place has a high of 78 and a low of 75. In its summer months, it’s between 89-85. I mean honestly. Wake up, go to sleep, or have tea at high noon and the temp will be exactly the same.
So, while I’m debating whether to shovel the snow or simply wait for it to melt in the afternoon, someone much more fortunate than I has just had to make the monumental decision between the light brown or dark brown swimming trunks for their days attire.
In the immortal words of commercials from my youth, “Calgon, take me away”. Either that or the ghost from vacations future needs to give me the powerball lotto numbers for this weekend. Hell it worked for Ebenezer Scrooge, why can’t I have it work for me?
